Development of a Model-Based Coordinated Air-Fuel Controller for a 3.0 dm3 Diesel Engine and Its Assessment through Model-in-the-Loop

To overcome the map’s scarce performance and efficiently manage engine, control systems must cope with ICE transient operations, coupling between its subsystem dynamics, tradeoff different requirements. work demonstrates effectiveness a reference generator that coordinates air path combustion turbocharged heavy-duty engine. system coordinator is based on neural networks allows for following engine-out Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) targets while satisfying load request. provides global conditions correct functioning targeting O2 concentration pressure in intake manifold. Through cooperation, Brake Mean Effective Pressure (BMEP) NOx to react rapid changes engine operating state compensates remaining deviations respect targets. two controller algorithms are suitable real-time implementation rapid-prototyping hardware. overall was good, allowing follow 150 ppm deviation achieve an average BMEP error 0.3 bar.
